World-Changers in Engineering Day
Explore how your existing skills and creative mindset can help you become a successful engineer or computer scientist! World-Changers in Engineering (WIE) Day is a free workshop for 5th through 12th grade students designed to help you learn how engineers work together to help people, solve problems and change the world.

Travel stipends
We may be able to assist with your travel plans and offer travel and hotel cost reimbursements. If you’re interested in more information, please email engr-wieday@uidaho.edu.
Chaperones
Chaperones are welcome to stay and view activities from the sidelines, yet trained volunteers and ambassadors will be leading small groups of participants.
Schedule
The schedule below is subject to change.
- 8:15 - 8:45 a.m. — Check-in
- 9 a.m. — WIE Day Welcome
- 9:15 a.m. — STEM Activity: Design, Build and Test - Activities led by our U of I chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
- 11 a.m. — Lunch (provided by College of Engineering)
- 12 p.m. — COE Lab and Student Club Experience
- 1:30 p.m. — STEM Activity: Final Testing and Closing Ceremony
- 2 p.m. — Pick-up – Chaperones pick up students at east side of ICCU Arena (grass area)
Meals
Lunch will be provided at no cost to participants and chaperones who register online.
Recommended items to bring
- Snack
- Water bottle – filling stations will be accessible throughout the day
- Jacket
- Comfortable walking shoes
