Sharpen your skills. Land the job.

If you’ve been offered an interview for a position — congratulations! Your application has already gained the interest of the organization, and they believe you can perform the job. An interview is a chance for an organization to learn more about you, particularly regarding your qualifications, interest in the position, communication skills and fit with the company. This process is a two-way street; it is also your opportunity to see if the company and position align with your goals.

Explore this page for resources to help you prepare for your interview, from commonly asked questions to strategies for success.

Career consultants are available to help in all stages of the interview process. Set up a mock interview appointment to practice and get feedback from a consultant. To schedule, email us or call 208-885-6121.

Big Interview

Big Interview is a digital platform that Vandals can use to learn and practice interview skills. With Big Interview, you can get interview practice with mock interviews that are tailored to your specific industry, job and experience level. Big Interview offers AI feedback, coaching by experts and can expose you to a variety of general, behavioral and technical practice interview questions so you’re ready for the big day.

Interview Kickstart video series

You're a Vandal for life and we're here for you and your success no matter what. Whether you're a student, alumni or part of the extended Vandal network, let us help you brush up your skills and conquer that next interview. You never know when your next opportunity might turn up.

Thank you letters

Always send a thank you letter or note after an interview, when someone has assisted you in your internship search or has provided you with helpful information.

Letters allow you to make contact again with the prospective employer and demonstrate good manners, consideration, interest and persistence. It also opens the door for future contact.

Before the interview ends, be sure to obtain the interviewer's correctly spelled name, title, mailing address, phone number and email for use in your thank you letter.
