Student Ambassadors

Ambassador Program

The College of Science Ambassador Program is designed to incorporate exceptional undergraduate students from within our college to aid in our recruitment and retention efforts and act as the official representatives of the College of Science to the community. Students are selected to serve as ambassadors through an interview process. Ambassadors are trained in university processes and given opportunities to enhance their communication and leadership skills through a one-credit course taught every semester.

Mission

The mission of the ambassador program is to promote the College of Science in a positive and professional manner to prospective and current students as well as faculty, staff and the community. Our ambassadors work directly with various university departments in order to serve as a public relations and institutional advancement team. The College of Science ambassadors strive to represent the college in a manner that exemplifies campus pride, display a sound knowledge about the College of Science and leave a positive and lasting impression of University of Idaho.

More Information

For more information about the program, contact Roopal Jani at rjani@uidaho.edu or any of our current College of Science ambassadors.

Microbiology

Hello! I’m Dayna Buitron, a sophomore majoring in Microbiology with a pre-med track. After undergrad, I plan on attending medical school for Emergency Medicine. Aside from being a part of the College of Science, I am also a part of Dr. Paul Rowley’s lab. My research project focuses on killer toxin K1, and its effect on yeast. My hope is to take this project further and understand killer toxins effectively enough to make a significant stride in medicinal advancements. In my free time, I like to work with my hand, and have my arts and crafts on display everywhere in my room. And whenever the opportunity presents itself, I will tackle a big hands-on project. I look forward to sharing the unique opportunities that the College of Science has for its students!

Medical Sciences, Microbiology and Spanish

Hello! My name is Jaquelin Delgadillo (she/her). I am a senior studying Medical Sciences, Microbiology, and Spanish with a Pre-Medical Emphasis and a minor in Pre-Health Professions. During my time here at the University of Idaho, I’ve had the honor of serving on the executive board for my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, as the Administrative Vice President. I’ve also served as a chapter representative for the university’s Panhellenic Judicial Board, and have participated in various student organizations. Just last spring (2022), I had the opportunity to study abroad in Alicante, Spain, where I was able to learn about the culture, improve my Spanish translation skills, and travel throughout the European continent. I am currently working with Dr. Unlu’s microbiology research and teaching lab as a laboratory assistant. Though I have only been working there for a short time, it has been an extremely enriching experience and I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. During my free time, you can find me either spending time with my family and friends, singing along to my favorite artists, or exploring new places. I can’t wait to share my unique experience as a first-generation Latina Vandal and all of the great opportunities and invaluable experiences that UI’s College of Science has to offer.
