Latah County Animal Weigh-In
Latah County Market Animal Weigh-In & Tagging
All 4-H and FFA members enrolled in a market animal project are expected to weigh and tag their project animals at the established Latah County weigh-in and tagging dates for the current 4-H year. Final weigh-in of all market animals occurs on Wednesday of fair week.
Market Animal Floater Policy
Reminder: Members must follow the Latah Market Animal Sale (LMAS) Animal Weigh-In and Floater Policy. This policy was approved in January 2014 by Latah County Livestock Leaders and Latah County Leaders Council. Read a copy of the Floater Policy PDF. Please contact your 4-H leader or the UI Extension office if you have any questions.
4-H and FFA MOU
Per the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Idaho Extension and the Idaho Division of Professional-Technical Education, the following statements apply:
- Members who enroll in both 4-H and FFA must clearly designate the project animal that will be exhibited for each program during initial weigh-in and on fair entry forms. Members may not show the same project animal for both 4-H and FFA at the same contest/fair/show.
- Youth members of both 4-H and FFA must meet the requirements of both programs, including maintaining separate project records for each organization.
4-H and FFA Beef projects will be weighed in and tagged in April 2021 (date TBA) at the Monson Barn at the University of Idaho campus.
County initial swine weigh-in will not be held in order to minimize the risk of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv). Clubs and Swine Leaders are responsible for tagging and submitting records to UI Extension. The deadline for possession and tagging is June 1, 2021.
Market Sheep & Goats
4-H and FFA Market Sheep and Market Goat weigh-in and tagging will be held in July 2021 (specific date TBA) at the Latah County Fairgrounds.
