Professional Development (PD) courses in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences (EHHS) are offered to educators and administrators who:

  • Need initial certification
  • Need to maintain credentials
  • Are staying abreast of new policies and procedures

Courses range in length and cover a broad spectrum of topics. Courses are updated throughout the year and include both in-person and online delivery methods. All registrations and payments are available through Keep Learning Idaho (KLI).

Professional Development Proposals

PD credits cover a broad spectrum of topics and are offered throughout the State of Idaho and via online delivery methods.

  • One PD credit is equivalent to 15 hours, which may be a combination of facilitator-directed and/or self-directed work.
  • Once approved, PD courses are listed in KLI.
  • Students must create an account in KLI to register and pay for PD courses.
  • One PD credit costs $60 (with some exceptions).

For a listing of available PD courses, visit Keep Learning Idaho.

Credits earned after January 2024

As of Jan. 1, 2024, PD credits will appear on KLI transcripts only. You may access your transcript through Keep Learning Idaho. To do so, log in through your Student Login, click on My Enrollment History then the Completed tab. From there, clicking on the Print Transcript Button will download a PDF copy of your transcript.

If you do not see anything or are missing courses in your Completed Courses, then grades have not been finalized. Once grades are finalized, they will move from the Enrolled Tab into the Completed Tab and show a final grade on your transcript.

Any PD credit taken prior to the above-listed date will appear on the students’ official degree seeking academic transcript ordered through the Office of the Registrar. Both transcripts are considered Official Transcripts from University of Idaho and have been approved by the Idaho State Department of Education.

Teaching PD at UIdaho

If you want to teach PD courses at U of I through EHHS, the associate dean or a department chair will first ensure you are qualified to teach the course(s) you are proposing. If they determine you are qualified, you will need to be affiliated with U of I in order to teach.

Interested PD instructors should submit a course form. You should include a copy of your CV or resume as part of the proposal application

Account setup for new, approved PD course instructors
  1. An affiliate data system set-up form will be emailed to you upon confirmation of your qualifications. (If you are currently employed at U of I, you do not need to complete Steps 2-4.)
  2. Complete the form and fax it directly to Human Resources at 208-885-3602.
  3. When you receive your confirmation from Human Resources, including your Vandal number (V number) if you have never been affiliated with U of I in any capacity, email it to the professional development team (ehhspd@uidaho.edu) and your affiliate EPAF will be processed.
  4. Once your EPAF is complete, the professional development team can begin processing PD course proposals for you.
  5. Instructors are responsible for supplying students with their syllabi, monitoring class lists and grade entry. Instructors also determine the start and end dates of the course.

Course proposal form

The course proposal form provides all information needed to set up your course, including your contact information in case we have any questions. Most fields are required. Please be as thorough and accurate as possible.

Course Proposal

Required PD course information

A PD course proposal does not require a syllabus; however, the course proposal form requests the following information:

  • Instructor information
  • Title and dates of the course
  • Number of credits
  • Prerequisites
  • Delivery method
  • Required materials
  • Target audience
  • Class size
  • Course objectives
  • Course description
  • Grade mode (How will grades be determined and what weight is given to each assignment? How will the final grade be qualified and quantified?)
  • Completion requirements (In what activities will students be engaged? What are students held accountable for and how will their work be assessed and graded? Include attendance policy and specific assignments complete with grading criteria and due dates.)

Please include responses to the above, as well as the details and pertinent information you would like a student to know about your PD course in the course proposal form. You may also provide students registered in your course with a copy of your syllabus.

Registration

Once the PD course has been processed, it will be visible in KLI.

First-time participants will create an account with KLI  and instructors will be responsible for monitoring class lists, dates and deadlines, as well as entering grades.

Grading

Grades are due upon completion of coursework and are available for viewing within 24 hours of entry.

Proof of completion

If students need proof of completion of their PD coursework, they may view and print transcripts in KLI.
