Letters of Recommendation (part three)

We require that two academic or professional references submit a letter of recommendation directly to mcnair-trio@uidaho.edu. These letters will allow us to understand your academic and professional track record. One letter may be from your academic advisor and one letter must be from a faculty with whom you have developed a professional relationship.

You may send these guiding prompts to your references in order to aid them in their letter writing:

1. Describe your relationship with the applicant.
2. Describe your observations regarding the applicant’s motivation for graduate study and commitment to the academic and professional goals of attaining an advanced degree.
3. What is your appraisal of the applicant’s ability and aptitude to conduct research and excel academically?
4. Describe the areas in which you believe this applicant needs to further develop in order to ensure successful admission to an academic doctoral program.
5. Send your letter of recommendation directly to mcnair-trio@uidaho.edu.
