Additional Documents Instructions (part four)

The final part that completes your McNair application packet are the following documents:

Part 4 - Document 1: A PDF copy of your unofficial university transcript(s). To retrieve your unofficial transcripts, use VandalWeb. Create a PDF and send to mcnair-trio@uidaho.edu

Part 4 - Document 2: Income Verification Form. Retrieve the income verification form from one of the links below. Use only the one form that applies to you.

• Form 1: If your parent/legal guardian(s) claim you on their taxes as a dependent, fill out the top portion and have your parent fill out the rest and sign at the bottom.
• Form 2: If your parent/legal guardian(s) do not claim you on their taxes and you do your own, fill out the Independent Form.
• Form 3: If you or your parent/legal guardian(s) did not file taxes, fill out Form 3.

Why do we ask for this information?

Due to the nature of our program, we are bound by federal regulations that require all McNair Scholars Programs to provide documentation of a student’s eligibility for the program to the U.S Department of Education and implement the TRIO regulations that state two-thirds of the students served must meet federal low-income guidelines. This information will only be used to determine or verify TRIO Student Support Services program eligibility. The U.S. Department of Education provides more information about TRIO and eligibility requirements online at Dept. of Education TRIO Income Eligibility.

To complete your income verification form, we ask that you report the income that either you or your legal guardians filed with the U.S IRS and/or with FAFSA. We also need a signed copy of the income verification form that best fits your tax filing status for the current fiscal year. If you have not filed taxes yet, you may use last year’s tax return information. Please note that, if you are still considered a dependent under FAFSA, you must use the dependent income verification form AND have the income verification form signed by your legal guardians.
