Vandal Food Pantry
In response to COVID-19:
The Vandal Food Pantry cabinets are no longer available to community members and students due to COVID-19. In order to keep food available for patrons, we will operate a curbside pick up from the loading dock at the Pitman Center (the West side of the building between the Pitman Center and Greek Row). Meal bags will be prepacked and patrons will be given bags based on their family size. The Mobile Food Pantry will also continue to operate as scheduled in parking lot 108 (West of the Rec Center).

Due to COVID-19 concerns, none of the Vandal Food Pantry cabinets are currently available. Food will be distributed on dates listed above on the West side of the Pitman Center at the loading dock in the alley way (between the Pitman Center and Greek Row). Contact email@example.com with any questions.
Anyone can donate to the Vandal Food Pantry.
Drop off your donations in boxes located in the Idaho Student Union Building (second floor outside of Einstein's OR on the third floor outside of the Dept. of Student Involvement) and in the Pitman Center (first floor across from the information desk).
If you are interested in hosting a food drive to benefit the Vandal Food Pantry, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Mobile Food Pantry is a monthly event held in partnership with the Idaho Foodbank to provide healthy and fresh foods to patrons of the Vandal Food Pantry. The event takes place at noon every first Wednesday of the academic year (Sept. through May) and is open to all people. The event ends when food has been distributed.
The event is currently being hosted in Parking Lot 108 (west of the Student Recreation Center).
On behalf of the Idaho Food Bank (Feeding America), volunteers do collect a summary of information from those who visit the Mobile Food Pantry. The data that is collected is: name; city of residence; first time visiting the mobile; how many people you are providing food for and their ages.
Due to COVID-19, the Mobile Pantry will function as a drive through/walk through style until further notice. This means that patrons will be unable to self-select their items. Food will be prepackaged for you.
We CARE about the well-being of our Vandal community. No member of our Vandal Family goes hungry. The University of Idaho has partnered with the Vandals Dining Swipe Out Hunger program to tackle food insecurity on campus.
Swipe out Hunger provides members of the Vandal community (current students faculty, or staff) with limited meal swipes to the Hub.
If you, or someone you know in the Vandal community, is food insecure, please fill out a Vandal CARE report and we will connect you with a Vandal Care team representative to assist you.
Looking for ways to get involved and give back? The Vandal Food Pantry is always in need of support in the form of volunteers.
Visit the Vandal Food Pantry page on GivePulse to view upcoming service opportunities. If you are interested in coordinating a group volunteer activity with the Pantry please contact email@example.com directly.
Become an advocate for food insecure students! Nearly half of all U of I students experienced food insecurity in 2019. In this online workshop, participants will define food insecurity, learn about what it means to be food insecure, brainstorm strategies to support students experiencing food insecurity, and learn about resources. This workshop can be tailored for students, faculty, and/or staff.

Any student having difficulty affording or accessing safe, sufficient food to eat is urged to contact the Center for Volunteerism and Social Action at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit ISUB 301 for a list of resources and support. The Vandal Food Pantry is a free resource, open to all, and available at eight different and discrete locations across campus. There are no eligibility requirements to use the pantries. Each pantry is stocked weekly with food, grocery bags, and various hygiene items. Take what you need. For more information, visit uidaho.edu/food-pantry.
