Lucille Cummings

Lucille Cummings was born and raised in Idaho and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1945 with a B.A. in Political Science. After completing her degree she moved to Fresno, California where she worked as a Legal Secretary for the firm of Sanford, Harris and Loomis.

In the early 1980’s Ms. Cummings created a group of professional women in the community known as Fresno Career Women which provided funding education needs for women returning to college. This included tuition and books, money for gas to get to school, help with the rent and other expenses that made a difference in continuing a semester. In downtown Fresno she was “The Hat Lady” and well known for her variety of hats, style and regal bearing.

Ms. Cummings passed away in 2004, age 81.
