Jonas Oatman, a Nez Perce student who came to U of I through Tribal Nations Student Affairs’ Indigenous Nation Scholars Training for Excellence Program (INSTEP), is pictured at the Native American Student Center with Dakota Kidder, program coordinator for Tribal Nations Student Affairs, on Thursday, June 25, 2026. After graduating in Spring ’26 with a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Mathematics, Oatman will be continuing at the U of I for a master's in computer science.

    Get to know the Honors Program

    High school juniors and seniors are invited to explore the University Honors Program during our premier Honors Student for a Day event. Spend a day on campus learning about Honors academics, research and leadership opportunities, and connect with current Honors students to see what makes our program unique.

    Families and guests are encouraged to attend all sessions. Please include all attendees when completing the student registration form.

    Plan ahead

    Prepare for your visit by reviewing the event schedule, parking details and travel options. Can’t wait to see campus? Explore it now with our virtual tour.

    Schedule

    • 10-10:30 a.m. | Check in at Clearwater and Whitewater Rooms, Idaho Student Union Building
    • 10:30-11 a.m. | Welcome session
    • 11 a.m. to noon | Info session: The Value of Being an Honors Student — academics, scholarships and a mock Honors class
    • Noon to 12:45 p.m. | Complimentary lunch
    • 1-2 p.m. | Optional tours: Honors House, on-campus housing and other living options
    • 2-3 p.m. | Optional meetings with college academic advisors

    Parking

    Visitor parking permits are available. Purchase online or at the Parking Office in the Intermodal Transit Center (corner of Sweet Ave. and Railroad St.). Place permits printed side up on your dashboard.
