U of I Visualizing Science Exhibit on Display at The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho

The University of Idaho's Visualizing Science exhibit, which brings scientific research to life in art form and reveals a deep kinship inherent in seemingly disparate disciplines, is now on display at The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho. The exhibit is the result of a nine-month collaboration between interdisciplinary teams of faculty in science, art and design. The project was led by College of Art and Architecture professor and head of the art and design program Sally Graves Machlis and Prichard Art Gallery director Roger Rowley. Read more

Shelley McGuire Appointed Director for School of Family and Consumer Sciences

Michelle (Shelley) McGuire has been appointed the new director for the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences effective Aug. 13, 2018. McGuire joins the University of Idaho and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences from the Washington State University School of Biological Sciences, where she worked as a professor in lactation physiology and nutrition.

Edible Insects on Summer of Science Menu Saturday at Moscow Farmers Market

Children will learn about food sourced from an uncommon form of livestock – edible insects – from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 28, at the Moscow Farmers Market. Snacks ranging from chips to chocolate chip cookies made with cricket flour will be on the menu as part of the Summer of Science program sponsored by the University of Idaho College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and its Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology and Nematology. Potato Association of America to Meet July 22-26 in Boise

The Potato Association of America will hold its 102nd annual meeting July 22-26 in Idaho’s capital and the nation’s top potato producing state. The group is meeting in Boise to highlight the potato industry’s importance in southwestern Idaho. The meeting is expected to draw more than 300 association members. “We especially hope that Idaho potato growers will turn out for the industry day,” said University of Idaho researcher Pamela Hutchinson. Hutchinson, a weed scientist, serves on the organizing committee for the meeting with fellow College of Agricultural and Life Sciences researcher Nora Olsen, who co-chairs the local arrangements committee with Bret Nedrow of the J.R. U of I Twilight Tour at Kimberly Offers Flavorful, Fun Look at Agriculture

The annual University of Idaho Twilight Tour will bring together fun, practical science and food Wednesday, July 18, for farmers and others at the Kimberly Research and Extension Center. The Twilight Tour will run from 5-8 p.m. at the agricultural research farm located at 3806 North 3600 East, a mile northeast of Kimberly along Idaho Highway 50.
