    Idaho Foundation Seed Program

The Foundation Seed Program maintains approximately 120 varieties of wheat, barley, oats, beans, potatoes, peas, chickpeas, lentils, rapeseed, grasses, forbs and forage legumes. The majority of seed production is done on University of Idaho owned farms by research and Extension staff. All breeder and foundation class seed fields are inspected by the Idaho Crop Improvement Association. Each center has become somewhat specialized, though many crops may be produced at multiple locations.

The Idaho Foundation Seed Program is based at the Kimberly Research and Extension Center and is responsible for transfer of crop varieties from breeding programs to producers.

    Seed varieties

Discover the variety of seeds available for purchase according to fall or spring crops. Requests are allocated based on seed availability and demand, and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Fill out the corresponding form to request seed.
