About the Gallery
The Prichard Art Gallery is an outreach entity of the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture. Established in 1982, the gallery serves the community and the university year-round by presenting a comprehensive and balanced schedule of exhibitions.
The gallery opened its first downtown Moscow location at the corner of 5th and Main St. in the fall of 1986 as the result of an extensive remodeling project. University of Idaho Associate Professor of Architecture William Bowler designed the interior space and students of the Department of Architecture carried out the renovation as a design build class. The galleries were renovated in 2005 and the Children’s Studio was renovated and expanded in 2012-2015. In 2024, the Prichard Art Gallery is moving to a new building, at 118 E 4th St., within the former police station. Remodeling will begin in early 2023 with a plan to open the new space in late 2024.
The Prichard Art Gallery serves students and faculty within the College of Art and Architecture as well as the university by providing important educational experiences. Additionally, the gallery welcomes over 17,000 visitors annually, including approximately 1,700 students from area and regional schools. Through exhibition programming, outreach and related educational programming, the gallery is dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the university community, the Palouse, the State of Idaho, and the Northwest region.
