We currently offer two doctorates, six master’s degrees, one bachelor’s, two specialist degrees and three certificate degrees at University of Idaho Boise


  • Education, Ed.D. & Ph.D

    These two programs prepare students as researchers, faculty and/or discipline-based scholars who contribute to the knowledge base of their respective fields.

  • Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership

    This program prepares you to lead and teach professional development and training programs as a manager or educator in your field of technical expertise. You will explore strategies for teaching adults, learn to plan and develop curriculum, study workforce development concepts, and much more. Areas of emphasis include adult learning and literacy education, organizational learning, and human resource development. Graduates are positioned for management and educator roles in business and industry, higher education, government agencies and nonprofits.
  • Curriculum & Instruction

    Emphasizing teacher education, this program prepares you to enhance your effectiveness as an educator in a private or public school or institution of higher learning. You will explore current research in the field, learn contemporary instructional technologies, and study the latest in student-learning theories and teaching strategies.
  • Educational Leadership

    This program prepares you to be at the forefront of theory and research in the field, with the skills and insight to influence policy and to improve educational institutions at the local, regional, state and national levels.
  • Rehabilitation Counseling and Human Services

    In this program, you will examine human behavior, study assessment and diagnosis strategies, and learn counseling techniques for various types of rehabilitation cases. Graduates of the program are eligible for national certification as a rehabilitation counselor (CRC) and state licensure as a professional counselor (LPC).
  • Special Education

    Through coursework and practicum experiences, you will learn to teach students with special needs, including those with mild to moderate disabilities, learning disabilities, mental conditions or other disabling conditions that require special equipment, materials and teaching procedures. Online program.
  • Career and Technical Education

    The CTE program provides a flexible master’s degree allowing a path to an Idaho teacher certification in the Professional-Technical Education areas of: business and marketing; engineering and technology; family and consumer sciences; and occupational education.

    Professionals meet content requirements from prior work and educational experiences. Study plans will allow you the opportunity to complete courses that meet Idaho teacher preparation standards. Veteran PTE/CTE teachers can use the Master’s in Education with emphasis in CTE to enhance effectiveness as an educator and leader in a program at a private or public school. As a student you will explore current research in education and specifically CTE, and develop strategies supported by the latest student-learning theories.

  • Business and Marketing Education

    The business and marketing education program focuses on the core areas of business critical to the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for success in the workforce.

Curriculum & Instruction, Ed. Specialist

This program prepares educators for positions in education administration. The degree places graduates on the forefront of theory, policy and practice needed to guide and lead today's schools. These degrees are designed for K-12 teachers and administrators who desire to transform schools into high-performing, inclusive and continuous learning communities.

Educational Leadership, Ed. Specialist

This program prepares you to be at the forefront of theory and research in the field, with the skills and insight to influence policy and to improve educational institutions at the local, regional, state and national levels.

  • Human Resource Development

    Designed for working professionals, this five-course graduate certificate can also be applied to a masters or doctorate degree in Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership. And you can do it all online, if you choose.
  • Technical Workforce Training
