Four University of Idaho students, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves were killed in a homicide that took place off-campus Nov. 13.
Since then, Vandal Family members and many others have expressed a desire to show or give support. Your thoughts, prayers and concern for the victims, their families and our campus community are greatly appreciated.
Vigil and Memorial Images
The University of Idaho community mourned the loss of four slain students through a live streamed vigil Nov. 30 and a spontaneous memorial at the entrance to the campus.
Support Victims' Families
If you wish to support the families of Xana, Ethan, Madison and Kaylee, GoFundMe pages have been established to help them during this difficult time. You can donate by clicking any of the links below:
The Kernodle family has created the Xana Kernodle Scholarship Endowment at University of Idaho in memory of Xana. The Kernodle Family will match dollar-for-dollar gifts to the fund, up to $10,000. Donations are welcome.
The Sigma Chi Foundation has created the Ethan Chapin Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of Ethan’s life. Donations are welcome.
Donations to the Vandals Supporting Vandals Fund will be divided among need-based scholarships named for Xana, Ethan and Madison. The university is working with the Goncalves family so a fourth scholarship can be established in Kaylee’s name. Vandals Supporting Vandals was created by U of I alumni to honor these beautiful lives and help future students. Donations are welcome.
Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial
The Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial is a physical representation of our #vandalstrong resilience. The space will include a permanent reminder of Xana, Ethan, Madison and Kaylee, as well as a garden space for quiet reflection, remembrance and honor for all. Donations are welcome.
Student Crisis Support
If you wish to support current students during this crisis, you may do so through the Bruce and Kathy Pitman Emergency Fund. This fund provides financial assistance to U of I students who are experiencing emergency situations and has been activated to assist students in the past few days.
