Student Cody Harrison is pictured at the University of Idaho College of Law in Boise on Monday, March 23, 2026. He is graduating this spring and plans to leverage his naval military background and expertise in nuclear energy to pursue a career in the emerging field of nuclear regulatory law. Following graduation, Harrison will join the Boise office of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani (GRSM).

    Vandal Explorers take you behind the scenes with University of Idaho students as they learn, research and grow beyond the classroom. Follow undergraduate and graduate students into the field, the workplace and communities around the world as they conduct research, complete internships, study abroad and gain the hands-on experiences that prepare them for successful careers.

    Every Vandal Explorers video follows a University of Idaho student’s journey beyond the classroom. Through authentic student stories, you'll see how hands-on learning experiences build knowledge, confidence and career-ready skills.

    • Vandal Explorers: Field Reports follow undergraduate and graduate students as they conduct faculty-mentored research, solve real-world challenges and make new discoveries.
    • Vandal Explorers: Lessons on Location follow students as they gain new perspectives through internships, study abroad, professional conferences and other experiential learning opportunities.

    Field Reports: Follow research from question to discovery

    Travel alongside University of Idaho students as their research unfolds. Watch undergraduate and graduate researchers collect data, solve unexpected challenges and work alongside faculty mentors to answer important questions in agriculture, engineering, environmental science, history, wildlife conservation and more.

    From tracking pygmy rabbits in Idaho and documenting plant diversity in the Selkirk Mountains to studying antelope diets in Mozambique and exploring evolution in the Galápagos Islands, each episode shows how curiosity becomes discovery and how research experiences prepare students for graduate school, careers and lifelong learning.

    Lessons on Location: See where learning can take you

    Follow University of Idaho students as they step beyond campus to build skills, broaden their perspectives and connect classroom learning with the real world. New experiences lead to opportunities for learning and growth, and each episode offers an authentic look at how U of I students challenge themselves to see the world differently and to shape their personal and professional growth.
