Experience the best of Vandal life at Parent and Family Weekend

Parent and Family Weekend is the perfect opportunity for Vandals and their families to come together, celebrate the university experience and explore the Moscow community. Hosted by the Student Alumni Relations Board (SARB), this weekend is packed with exciting events, traditions and opportunities to create lasting memories with your student.  

At Parent and Family Weekend, you’ll find opportunities to cheer on Vandal athletics, participate in fun activities or simply enjoy time on campus.

Some events may require you to purchase tickets or reserve spots in advance. Check out the schedule below, choose your fun and make sure to secure your spot.

Schedule of events

Get a glimpse of what’s in store by exploring last fall’s Parent and Family Weekend schedule. As this year’s event approaches, check back for updates and a full schedule of activities. 

Friday, Oct. 25, 2024

3 p.m. — Tradition Keepers 5K trail run  
Location: ICCU Arena West pavilion 
Cost: $5

Walk or run this 5K that features a minimum of 15 University of Idaho Traditions based off SARB’s 2024. Vandal men’s basketball players will be stationed along the route to guide you through the scenic route that winds through some of the most beautiful parts of campus.

The route concludes at the ICCU Arena pavilion — just in time to catch the Vandal Women’s Basketball game at 6 p.m. in the ICCU Arena. After the game, we’ll head back outside to the ICCU Arena pavilion to catch a spectacular fireworks show.

A waiver needs to be filled out to participate in this event and will be given out at registration.

8:30 p.m. — Fireworks show 
Location: ICCU Arena pavilion 
Cost: Free 

Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024 

10 a.m. — Friendship bracelet making
Location: Alumni Relations office
Cost: Free

Experience the joy of crafting a connection at Parent and Family Weekend with SARB making friendship bracelets. Join us as we thread together memories and laughter, creating timeless tokens of love and friendship.

11 a.m. — Annual Parent and Family Weekend Cornhole Tournament
Location: Theophilus Tower lawn
Cost: $15 per team

Do you have what it takes to win the Fall Vandal Family Weekend Cornhole Tournament? Join SARB to take on other families.

1 p.m. — Campus tours and scavenger hunt
Location: Meet at the Bruce M. Pitman Center
Cost: Free

Take a campus tour with SARB and engage in a scavenger hunt. SARBies have created riddles and word scrambles.

2 p.m. – Oktoberfest Tap the Keg
Location: Dan O’Brien Track and Field Complex

Join the Vandal Family for tasty regional beers, Oktoberfest-inspired food, music and more. Admission for 21 and over only.

3 p.m. — Tailgate and football: U of I vs. Eastern Washington
Location: ICCU Arena Vandal Village

Join SARB for a tailgate before the game. No registration necessary.

3 p.m. — Parent and Family Cook-off

Join SARB and a panel of judges during the tailgate for the ultimate Parent and Family Cook-off. Bring your favorite homemade dish for a panel of judges who will decide who the ultimate Vandal Family cook is.

More family fun from 2024

Vandals and their families took part in an ultimate mini golf challenge, golf simulator family day, barrel Par 3 tournament and a target range challenge.

U of I Student Rec Center

Students and their family members over 18 have access to the Student Rec Center or Climbing Center, where youth are welcome when accompanied by an adult. It's free during Parent and Family Weekend, including free climbing gear rentals.

Airway Hills Golf Center  

Vandal students and their families participated enjoyed mini golf, a golf simulator, barrel par 3 tournament and target range challenge.
