Idaho Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment Translated to Spanish

MOSCOW, Idaho — The Idaho Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment now includes Spanish translations.
The assessment, launched in December 2021 by the University of Idaho McClure Center for Public Policy Research, provides a nonpartisan, science-based resource to help Idaho business leaders, policy makers and Idahoans plan for a productive, prosperous and resilient state economy.
Changes in temperature, precipitation and snowpack will impact Idaho’s major economic sectors. For example, the assessment found warmer temperatures and precipitation variation will likely lead to agricultural stress for some crops and regions, but may present opportunities to explore new crop varieties better suited to future climate conditions. The assessment noted that understanding the most current information and predictions can help Idahoans plan and adapt for the future.
The assessment connects the latest scientific research on Idaho’s changing climate with economic risks and opportunities that impact businesses, residents and local and state economies.
In addition to detailed technical reports, the assessment includes brief summaries on agriculture, climate, energy, human health, infrastructure, land (forests and rangelands), recreation and tourism, smoke and water. These snapshots are now available in Spanish.
Several community partners aided translation, including the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs, Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and The Nature Conservancy.
