What factors affect my costs?
International student fees: You will be expected to pay international student fees in addition to tuition, room and meals.
Housing and meals: Housing costs will vary based on your living arrangements. Estimates are based on the cost of a double room in Theophilus Tower or Wallace Residence Center and include the Vandal meal plan. There are different housing and meal costs for students that are not required to live on campus; students who live with their parents; or students who have children living with them.
Books and supplies: Expenses are estimated costs for a full-time student for one academic year and will vary based on your classes and area of study.
Required insurance: International students enrolled in one or more credits are automatically enrolled in University of Idaho’s Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP). International students with an insurance policy provided by their sponsoring government as part of their educational program can submit their policy information for verification. If this policy meets U of I’s minimum insurance requirements, the student will not be enrolled in SHIP. Learn more about SHIP.
Personal expenses: Includes items such as clothing, special course fees, personal loan fees, personal care products, laundry, etc. These items are considered indirect costs and will vary for each student.
How can I offset my costs?
Student employment: You may be eligible for on-campus employment as a student. You may even find work in your area of study, improving your resume before you graduate. University of Idaho has many student jobs available.
Scholarships: You may be eligible for privately funded scholarships specifically for international students.
