    Gardening and horticulture  

    UI Extension, Owyhee County office assistance in weed control and identification. We also provide some assistance in pest identification and diseases. Contact the UI Extension, Owyhee County office at owyhee@uidaho.edu or 208-896-4104 for current program information.  

    Plant diagnostic clinic

    Do you have sick trees? Is your lawn not looking as green as you’d like? Are you wondering what that bug is in your garden? Need help figuring out how to control the weeds in your yard? UI Extension, Canyon County offers a free plant diagnostic clinic for Canyon and Owyhee counties.

    They provide science-based, non-biased information. If you can’t make it to the UI Extension, Canyon County office (501 Main Street, Caldwell), you can email your question (if you can attach pictures, it is very helpful) to ccmg@uidaho.edu.

    Gardening classes

    Gardening classes are often held at the UI Extension, Canyon County office. If you have questions regarding registering, contact canyon@uidaho.edu or 208-459-6003.

    Master gardener program

    Each year, hundreds of master gardeners share their gardening knowledge as they serve their communities and the environment.  

    What master gardeners do

    • Answer horticulture questions (by telephone and in person at the UI Extension office)
    • Promote environmental responsibility
    • Bring the joy of gardening to all ages
    • Teach classes for large groups: civic organizations, church groups, garden clubs, schools and others

    Becoming an Idaho Master Gardener
