Agriculture in Oneida County
Agriculture
UI Extension, Oneida County offers resources on a variety of livestock issues and coordinates with other UI Extension offices for workshops and programs. Contact us at oneida@uidaho.edu or 208-766-2243 for information on current classes and programs.
Winter beef schools
Beef schools are developed using producer input. Our office offers these schools in November and February (most years). These are great educational opportunities that include topics ranging from nutrition and grazing to cattle handling and reproduction. Other livestock programs are conducted as industry issues and topics of concern arise. If you have any questions or have a topic you would like to learn about, please contact our office.
Hay/soil testing
If you have questions about the quality of your hay, would like to test for nitrates, or would like to have a discussion about if your hay meets the nutritional needs of your animals, please feel free to reach out to our office. Our Extension educator is knowledgeable in these areas and would be happy to help.
Our office also has the equipment for both hay and soil sample collection. If you wish to borrow our equipment or need help collecting a sample, please let us know.
Pesticide licensing and training
UI Extension offers annual Idaho State Pesticide Applicator Training and Licensing programs in several counties. The program is offered in conjunction with the UI Pesticide Specialist and the Idaho State Department of Agriculture. This class is available to anyone seeking an Idaho State Pesticide Applicator License. This license is required to purchase and use restricted use pesticides for pest control. Please contact our office for a schedule of when these classes may be available.
