Agriculture in Elmore County
Agriculture and farm management
UI Extension, Elmore County provides expert recommendations on agricultural topics such as crop production, enterprise budgets, variety selection, pest control, plant diseases, fertilization and irrigation management. We also provide livestock management training and can assist with questions regarding animal nutrition, health and care.
Our office can teach applied scientific methods to help restore soil with organic matter and improve production while conserving resources. Large and small farms can be given crop consulting and on-farm field surveys using current technical information from the University of Idaho.

Weed control
The Elmore County Noxious Weed Control and Elmore County Commissioners are extremely involved in weed prevention and control.
Large weed infestations have been known to decrease land value 30-50%. Everyone should be aware of the potential harmful effects of a weed before it becomes established. Currently, the Elmore County Noxious Weed Control office is targeting three very invasive noxious weeds in Elmore County:
- Spotted knapweed
- Leafy spurge
- Rush skeleton
It is extremely helpful for landowners to learn to identify these weeds and other invasive plants.
