Field Beans

Field beans are grown to produce dry edible beans, such as those used in pork and beans. Each community has beans commonly grown for commercial purposes, and these are suggested for a first year project.

Grow one-half acre of beans for consumption or use as seed, using certified seed. Advanced projects include growing string beans or certified bean seed under contract with a seed company.

Some counties have more requirements. Contact your 4-H leader or UI Extension county office to check.
