Jonas Oatman, a Nez Perce student who came to U of I through Tribal Nations Student Affairs’ Indigenous Nation Scholars Training for Excellence Program (INSTEP), is pictured at the Native American Student Center with Dakota Kidder, program coordinator for Tribal Nations Student Affairs, on Thursday, June 25, 2026.     Experience Vandal Marching Band traditions first-hand

    Attention band directors: University of Idaho’s Vandal Marching Band invites you and your students to be part of the excitement at Homecoming by joining us for the Homecoming Parade and Pregame Show on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026. Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your band and experience the Vandal spirit firsthand.

    Eligibility

    High school bands are welcome to join the Vandal Marching Band in celebrating Homecoming. Band directors must be present and are responsible for completing the registration form for their group(s).

    Participating schools can choose to take part in both the Homecoming Parade and Pregame Show, or select one of the two events to participate in.

    Event registration

    To ensure your band’s participation, submit the registration form by Friday, Oct. 9, 2026. Logistical details will be sent to band directors on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026.

    About the Homecoming Pregame Show

    The Pregame Show will showcase visiting bands alongside the U of I Vandal Marching Band, with around 1,200 students on the field. Rehearsal will take place from 10:45–11:45 a.m., immediately following the parade. The performance will begin at approximately 1:35 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. kickoff.

    Pregame music will be emailed to you in PDF format once your registration is complete.

    Schedule of events

    • 9:30 a.m. — Parade check-in deadline (please arrive before this)
    • 10 a.m. — Homecoming Parade in Downtown Moscow
    • 10:45 a.m. — Rehearsal with the U of I Vandal Marching Band (Kibbie Dome)
    • 11:45 a.m. — Clear field
    • 1:35 p.m. — Pregame Show
    • 2 p.m. — Football game: U of I vs. Southern Utah
    • 5:30 p.m. — Vandals win!
