Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Reimbursement
University of Idaho College of Engineering students are eligible for reimbursement for registration costs associated with the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
Administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and offered nationwide, the FE exam provides independent assessment of our students’ competency and technical preparation in engineering fundamentals.
Passing rates continue to climb across our college, and our students score consistently higher than national averages in exam areas related to key engineering competencies, including ethics, professional practice, design and analysis. In our Department of Mechanical Engineering, the 2021 average pass rate was 90%.

Don Archer graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1957. He went on to pursue a successful career in the oil industry and married the love of his life Karen. Karen Archer created the Don Archer FE Exam fund in her husband’s memory to help students achieve their professional goals with financial assistance beyond tuition.
