AL@UI
Adventure Learning at the University of Idaho (AL@UI) is coordinated by Brant G. Miller in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. AL@UI represents the cutting edge of technology, education, and adventure. AL@UI seeks to deliver education at the speed of research through authentic partnerships with U of I researchers for meaningful education and outreach experiences. AL@UI welcomes teachers, students, communities and researchers to participate in upcoming expeditions and generate ideas for future expeditions. AL@UI is supported by McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS), the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and the College of Natural Resources.
Adventure Learning has impacted millions of students throughout the world. The archetype AL program, GoNorth!, found great success in connecting students, teachers and experts to expedition team members while they traveled via dogsled in circumpolar arctic locales. AL@UI builds on the foundational work done at the University of Minnesota by proving the concept of the expanded AL framework that includes local places, issues, and associated authentic narratives. Idaho and the surrounding Northwest affords stunning landscapes by which AL can be explored by students and teachers for transformational learning.
