Jennie Eva Hughes Award

Jennie Eva Hughes Multicultural Student Leadership Award

In 1899, Jennie Eva Hughes became the first African-American student to graduate from the University of Idaho. This award, named in her honor, is given annually to students who have shown genuine concern and interest toward multicultural issues and worked on behalf of multiculturalism on campus.  

Eligibility & Nominations

This award is available to all undergraduates. Students may be nominated by faculty, administrators, staff or other students. Students can also nominate themselves. The award is part of the ASUI Student Achievement Awards in Leadership and Service to recognize individuals who have made contributions to student activities, campus and community life.

Nominations will be accepted in early Spring 2023.
