Duties

Vandal Kids Camp Counselors will be responsible for the daily operations of the Kids Camp for Recreation and Wellbeing. Counselors will be responsible for an assigned group of children ages ranging between 6 -12. Counselors will help plan, organize, implement, and lead age-appropriate activities. Activities generally include arts and crafts. sports, nature, games, and elements of education. Duties include working shifts that are scheduled, checking in and out camp participants, supervising children, overseeing transitions to and from scheduled events and lessons, participating in group exercises, and helping facilitate activities throughout the day. Camp counselors will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of campers. The ideal candidate would be an excellent multi-tasker with a genuine passion for working with young individuals. Applicants should be patient, self-motivated, and confident in their abilities to assist and lead campers through each week.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

Job Duty Function: Oversee daily operations of Vandal Kids Camp

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Checking in and out camp participants.
  • Communicating rules to camp participants.
  • Ensuring participants safety during camp events and activities.
  • Maintaining we have all the necessary paperwork for each participant.
  • Enforcing Vandal Kids Camp policies and procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate behavior management through performing other duties as assigned.
  • Provide firs aid when needed
  • Attend all mandatory trainings and meeting

Job Duty Function: Provide excellent customer service

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a friendly approachable manner.
  • Respond to program inquiries, answering, questions, phone calls, and emails.
  • Arriving on time and prepared for all shifts.
  • Interact with parents in a professional and polite manner.

Position Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work mornings, days, and early evenings.
  • Must work up to 40 hours each week scheduled.
  • Abide by the University of Idaho student code of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Due to the nature of this position you must be 21 years of age to apply
  • Must have excellent driving record.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certified

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous background as a camp counselor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of the team and cooperate with other.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated reliability/dependability through work history, school, or references.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift and/or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Physical ability to move around and within equipment and facilities including squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Those hired will be working with children.
  • Final applicants may be required to pass a criminal background check.
  • if hired, you will need to completed a "Working with Minors" course.

Dates of Employment: June 15 - August 7, 2020

Hourly Rate: $10 per hour

Duties

Ensuring the safety of patrons and proper use of equipment in the Student Recreation Center (SRC). Checking ID’s, giving facility tours, issuing equipment, selling memberships and other products and services. Requirements

  • Willingness to work occasional mornings, evenings, weekends &/ or holidays.
  • Must work a minimum of 2 shifts (8+) hours per week.
  • Must be a student at the University of Idaho for the semester you wish to begin and throughout employment.

  • American Heart Association (AHA) certification in First Aid, CPR, AED required within three weeks of hire.

Duties
Students interested in learning the unique aspects of running a comprehensive recreation facility at a major university should apply. General responsibilities include assisting with the daily operational aspects of the Student Recreation Center, including working with development and implementation of the facility management plan by enforcing risk management policies and procedures for the SRC and Campus Recreation. In addition, responsibilities will also include assisting with preventative maintenance and care of Campus Recreation equipment. This position supports Campus Recreation by creating a work environment that emphasizes customer service, teamwork and the protection of the facility and safety of all patrons through the recruitment, training, scheduling and supervising employees who provide support services. The goal of this internship is to foster the development of an upcoming recreational professional by immersing them in fast-paced, hands-on learning experience.

This graduate support assistantship (GSA) will provide the candidate with a multitude of relatable administrative, personnel management and leadership skills, including but not limited to: conflict management; receiving and sharing constructive feedback with others; evaluating student/employee performance; communicating with fellow employees, student employees, and participants; recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training and supervising staff; programming facilitation; overnight trip management; risk management; judgment and decision making; financial management and budget planning; program evaluation and assessment. It will also provide the candidate with the opportunity to gain the confidence and competence to work in the outdoor recreation field professionally, and specifically supports the University of Idaho and Student Affairs strategic plans. All of the aforementioned skills are transferrable to the candidate’s educational success, and individual growth, and will be especially valuable for an individual seeking a career in the field of Outdoor Recreation and Education.

 

This GSA will assist with the management of rental operations, equipment inventory, student staff and volunteers, and other aspects of the greater Outdoor Program (evening and weekend hours required); assist with the daily operations and group facilitation in the Climbing Center; assist with leadership and coordination of on-campus events; assist with the training and supervision of Rental Center and Trips program student staff; assist with the planning and leading of Outdoor Program trips; other needed Outdoor Program tasks; and attend all University of Idaho Recreation and Wellbeing and Student Affairs staff meetings.
