Climbing Wall Clinics

Clinics and Programs

If you are new to climbing, come on in and get a basic clinic out of the way to enjoy the Climbing Center throughout the school year! All clinics are 6-8 p.m.

Take advantage of all the Climbing Center has to offer with no rental fees!

Learn lead climbing skills inside and then take them outside for a multi-faceted adventure.

  • Sport Climbing Class: Learn how to lead and climb by practicing skills indoors and then using them outside.
    • Indoor class: Aug. 31 from 6-8 p.m.
    • Outdoor class: Sept. 6 from 4-8 p.m.
  • Anchor Building Class: Build skills to learn how to build anchors for outdoor climbing.
    • Indoor class: Sept. 14 from 6-8 p.m.
    • Outdoor class: Sept. 20 from 4-8 p.m.
  • Rappelling Class: Learn how to safely rappel while climbing.
    • Indoor class: Oct. 12 from 6-8 p.m.
    • Outdoor class: Oct. 18 from 4-8 p.m.
  • Multi-Pitch Climbing Class: Intro to multi-pitch climbing techniques and skills.
    • Indoor classes: Nov. 9 and 16 from 6-8 p.m.

All clinics are $40 and include instruction, equipment and transportation.

The Women's Center is taking over the Climbing Center the first Wednesday of every month. Join us for a variety of fun programming! All clinics are 6-8 p.m.

A frighteningly fun climbing competition to kick off Bowldering League, and a fundraising event for the U of I Climbing Club.

If you aren't good at bowling, like to climb, and want to gather a team of crushers to compete in a four-week bouldering league, you're in luck! Join us for four rounds of new and exciting boulders and a chance for prizes.

Youth Climbing - Fall/Spring Semester

Youth are defined as being under 18 years of age, all youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to enter and use the University of Idaho Climbing Center. The following dates and times apply to fall and spring semesters only.

Youth Open Climbing Rules & Fees

All participants must watch the U of I Climbing Center orientation video. Parents must also take and pass a onetime basics belay clinic or demonstrate skills proficiency. All participants must read and sign an assumption of risk and liability waiver (Climbing Center Release of Liability Form) at the Climbing Center. Youth 13 and under are not allowed to belay. Children 14 and older may belay if they complete the facility orientation and basics belay clinic while also accompanied by a parent or guardian who has also completed the training and orientation. Membership is non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Youth and Parent Package | $8 per person, includes Facility Orientation and equipment
  • Youth 1 Month | $45, available to participants 18 years and younger.
  • Youth 4 Month | $150,  available to participants 18 years and younger.
  • Youth 1 Year | $325, available to participants 18 years and younger.

All youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to enter and use the University of Idaho Climbing Center. Youth are defined as being under 18 years of age.

Youth open climbing is available anytime during summer hours:

  • Monday through Friday | 2-7 p.m.
  • Saturday | Noon to 6 p.m.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while using the Climbing Center. Children 13 years or younger are designated “Climber Only,” and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has completed facility orientation. Children 14 and older may belay if they complete the facility orientation and basics belay clinic while also accompanied by a parent or guardian who has also completed the training and orientation.

Youth Open Climbing Rules & Fees

Participants must attend a (one-time) facility orientation and have a Climbing Center Release of Liability Form completed by parent or legal guardian.

  • Youth and Parent Package | $8 each, includes facility orientation and equipment

Reserve the Climbing Center for your next special event. The minimum charge for an event is $80 (a ten participant minimum), and certain stipulations apply.
