North Idaho presence
The Vandal footprint in North Idaho is a testament to the university’s land-grant mission — bringing accessible, high-quality and relevant education, research and outreach to communities across the state. University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene operates across multiple locations in Kootenai County from performing cutting-edge research on the North Idaho College campus to undertaking water resources education in the field. The center endeavors to serve the state of Idaho by solving real-world challenges and expanding opportunities for all Idahoans.
Harbor Center
The center’s administrative staff operates in the Harbor Center, just north of the North Idaho College campus in Coeur d’Alene’s University District. Employee offices and the Coeur d’Alene VandalStore are housed in this iconic riverside building. The Idaho Water Resources Research Institute offers its North Idaho programming from the Harbor Center, and several university programs aimed toward supporting and empowering K-12 educators and administrators are also housed in the building.
Research Park
The University of Idaho Research Park in Post Falls is a hub for innovation, collaboration and economic growth. The park plays a vital role in advancing academic-industry partnerships and regional growth by connecting research-driven companies and organizations with the university, the Coeur d’Alene center and our partners. This integrated space is a venue for businesses, educators and researchers to collaborate on solutions that drive Idaho’s economy forward.
Classrooms and meeting rooms are available for short-term rental, and office and lab spaces are available for long-term lease. Contact us to learn more about using space in U of I Coeur d’Alene’s Research Park.
North Idaho College partnership
University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene enjoys a special relationship with North Idaho College (NIC), including the use of shared spaces for the benefit of all our students.
DeArmond Building
The DeArmond Building is a collaborative center for student support among our education partners in Coeur d’Alene, namely North Idaho College and Lewis-Clark State College in Coeur d’Alene. Our shared building at NIC’s downtown campus hosts academic courses, student support services and community events, as well as a student lounge and study spaces. This partnership creates a seamless experience for students, many of whom begin their education at NIC before transferring to U of I Coeur d’Alene, allowing them to continue their degrees in familiar spaces.
Hedlund Building
Our flagship 2+2 computer science program is based in North Idaho College’s Hedlund Building. This unique environment has world-class faculty sharing office walls with collaborative, high-tech classrooms, students of all levels contributing to world-changing research, and labs buzzing with student-led, industry-defining research. With its own unique micro-culture, the Coeur d’Alene computer science community is an environment where students can make an impact.
Classroom and meeting room rentals
The Harbor Center and U of I Research Park have classroom and meeting room space available for single-use rent. Our comfortable and functional meeting spaces include modern amenities, video-conferencing capabilities and on-site tech support.
Meeting spaces can accommodate groups of 10 to 30 people in classroom or group table settings. Classrooms with up to 60-person capacity are also available.
Reservations are open to U of I academic courses and non-academic programs, as well as events and community organizations not affiliated with the university.

Long-term leases
University of Idaho Research Park hosts long-term tenants at the Post Falls location to support regional research and drive innovation in North Idaho. Wet and dry labs are available, as well as traditional and co-working office spaces.
Strategically located in Post Falls within the growing Spokane-Coeur d’Alene corridor, the park offers flexible leasing options to suit diverse business needs. Ideal for research, administrative or professional services, the building features a collaborative, campus-like environment that integrates tenants into the Vandal Family.
