Inspire the future

Make the jump from curious educator to engaged, creative and innovative teacher with the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in curriculum and instruction. You have your teaching certificate you have some teaching experience and you’ve experimented with various learner-centered teaching and assessment strategies to support the unique learning needs and interest of your student. This program — designed for both elementary and secondary education certified teachers aspiring to increase their knowledge and expertise — provides the cutting-edge research and experience-based direction you need.

Through a minimum of 30 credits, you’ll deepen your understanding of research, pedagogy, and practice in your chosen area of expertise. The M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction starts with a set of core courses with opportunities to select elective courses that focus on your individual interests. This is a non-thesis graduate degree. Developed together with your advisor, your culminating non-thesis project will demonstrate your advanced knowledge and skills as a master educator. You’ll explore techniques for building relevant and challenging lessons, learn to celebrate diversity through curriculum and connections with your students, uncover the role of research and data analysis in curriculum planning and assessing performance. You’ll gain a stronger grasp on the philosophical, historical, social, political and cultural foundations of schools and educational organizations, and you’ll do it all with a study plan developed by you and your advisor.
