I graduated from the University of Wyoming where I worked as a resident assistant. From Old Faithful to the boulders of Vedauwoo in Laramie, Wyo., I am a Wyomingite born and raised. I completed my master’s degree in higher education at Texas Tech University where I worked as a graduate resident director. After two fun years in Texas, I decided the north is where I belong.
I found my way up to beautiful Moscow, Idaho, where I happily watch over the tallest building in Moscow, Theophilus Tower. In my free time I host movie nights (My library has over 1000 movies), jog around Moscow, and create pottery. I am a people person who loves to get to know each student’s and staff member’s unique characteristics.
October brings a time of candy, costumes, and community. During this month the Tower is home to the largest Housing & Residence Life community event: Tower Trick or Treat. During this time I am working with student staff, student elected leaders, and volunteers to prepare a Halloween event that community families have looked forward to for a whole year. In this month I am usually ordering pounds of candy, hanging up fliers and trying to decide, do I will let students decorate with glitter, or not. The result of all of this is a family friendly event that puts smiles on everybody’s faces.
Last year costumes included entire families dressed up as each Star Wars character, strollers decorated as Doctor Who TARDISes, and many many Frozen Elsa’s. I made my costume — I was dressed as Obi Wan Kenobi.
One floor was decorated as Avatar: the last Airbender. Weeks after the trick or treat event, a future student saw the floor and said “I love this floor! RAs decorate their floors? I definitely want to live in the Tower!”
