MOSCOW, Idaho — The Auditorium Chamber Music Series presents its last concert of the season with the two-time Grammy-nominated ensemble Sandbox Percussion at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the University of Idaho Administration Building Auditorium.

“This exhilarating ensemble is the perfect way to cap off our season,” said Eneida Larti, artistic director of ACMS and assistant professor of piano at the Lionel Hampton School of Music. “Sandbox is turning the percussion world on its head with its fresh, dynamic sound and we can't wait for our ACMS audience to experience it.”

Described as “exhilarating” by The New York Times and “utterly mesmerizing” by The Guardian, Sandbox Percussion champions living composers through its unwavering dedication to contemporary chamber music. In 2011, Jonathan Allen, Victor Caccese, Ian Rosenbaum and Terry Sweeney were brought together by their love of chamber music and the simple joy of playing together. They have since captivated audiences with performances that are both visually and aurally stunning. In 2024, Sandbox Percussion became the first percussion ensemble to be awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Sandbox Percussion will be the first percussion group to be showcased in ACMS in nearly 15 years, according to ACMS Manager Navin Chettri.

“As a percussionist myself, I find this incredibly thrilling,” Chettri said. “The concert promises to be enjoyable for all, and I encourage everyone to join us.”

Tickets for the ACMS concert, which are $25 for the general public, $20 for seniors, $10 for U of I students and free for children 12 and under, can be purchased at uitickets.com, as well as at the Bruce M. Pitman Center box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and at the door an hour before the concert begins (card only).

Since 1986, the Auditorium Chamber Music Series has presented some of the world's finest small ensembles in the beautiful neo-Gothic auditorium in the heart of U of I’s campus. Four ensembles visit the Palouse each year, performing for the series and enriching the region through school residencies, informal performances in community venues and masterclasses.
