Many small-acreage Idaho landowners want to raise livestock and/or horses and/or make better use of those they already have, but they lack much of the necessary knowledge to do so. The Vandal Pasture University Video Series addresses this desire. Providing research-based information tailor-made for Idaho small-acreage landowners, each five-to-seven-minute video provides insightful instruction and guidance about effective livestock and pasture management on a variety of inter-related topics, including weed reduction, soil health improvement, beneficial water usage, and increased production. In this entry, Matching Livestock with Plant Types, Extension Educator Tom Jacobsen discusses what owners need to know to match pasture plants common to Idaho with the proper grazing animal to optimize grazing efficiency and pasture management.
