Tobacco and Vaping Prevention

ECS-0021

ecs-0021 cover

BY Julie Buck, Randy Powell, Katie McDonald

April 1, 2023

Since more young Idahoans are vaping (one-fifth have at least tried it), prevention is key. Using a Do, Reflect, Apply model, this 30-minute 4-H curriculum provides activities to help children resist developing the habit in the first place. It guides third and fourth graders to understand why vaping is dangerous, to learn tobacco-use prevention strategies and to adopt some practical ways to deal with being tempted in their daily lives. Along with the lesson plans, the packet includes a brief follow-up survey and additional teaching resources for educators interested in offering more learning activities.
