Young people in the United States are struggling—nearly half battle a mental health disorder at some point. Idaho teens are particularly vulnerable, given that the state offers less access to care. It is thus critical that 4-H volunteers learn more about the condition, especially its signs and symptoms, and how they can help when participating in groups or club meetings. Along with providing the basics about mental health, this bulletin also lists professional resources if you encounter at-risk youth plus three stress-management activities to offer groups as a regular practice.
