Record Keeping for Your Small Ruminant Operation

BUL-1071

bul-1071 cover

BY Shannon Williams

October 21, 2024

Keeping records is important when running a small ruminant operation. Otherwise, it won’t be clear if you are reaching operational goals or production levels or ably managing costs. This five-page bulletin guides you to set up the best system for farm flocks or range bands by discussing several record types, including those that document information for lambing and kidding, weaning, vaccination and health, and identification (ear tags and other formats). A pair of tables provides the proper adjustment factors needed to more accurately calculate weaning weights for kids and lambs as they develop.
