The University of Idaho College of Engineering’s Center for Ecohydraulics Research (CER) recently partnered with Boise River Flood Control District 10 and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to study streambank erosion and identify areas extreme changes could lead to weaknesses and potential flooding. 3-D Printer to Revolutionize Biofluids and Biomechanics Research

With the help of a more than $300,000 major research instrumentation grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the University of Idaho College of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering is installing a high-resolution, mixed-material 3-D printer. To be housed in the Integrated Research and Innovation Center (IRIC), this state-of-the-art 3-D printer can print large, geometrically detailed and flexible 3-D structures. Read more

Elowyn Yager, University of Idaho Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering professor and Center for Ecohydraulics Research (CER) director, is part of a team working to better understand variations in riverbed nutrients and predict problems in Idaho river systems. Yager and researchers including Andy Tranmer from CER, Janice Brahney from Utah State University and Joel Rowland of Los Alamos National Laboratory were awarded $600,000 from the U.S. Read more
Engineering Students Earn More than $160K in DOE Awards to Pursue Nuclear Programs

University of Idaho College of Engineering graduate student Kristen Geddes and undergraduate Tyler Sand received fellowship and scholarship awards through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Geddes will receive a total of $156,000 over her three-year graduate fellowship. Read more
