The Power of Owning Your Own Story
This keynote is about my story. After years of trying to qualify and quantify who I am to those around me—whether it be new people I meet, coworkers, in interviews for jobs, or even on first dates—I have learned that it really isn’t about how the world sees you but how you see yourself that matters. Today, social media and perfection is the ideal for which we strive. I want to share how I have grown to understand that it is a much better goal to reach for reality. I choose each day to share my story with my students which allows me to lead by example, showing the importance of self-understanding and self-worth. Using True Colors, the Golden Circle, and other tools of self-reflection, I want to share with you my story in the hopes of creating space for you to share yours. Together we can work towards reaching for reality and finding real purpose.
