Mitch Gibbs Awarded First Berry International Jazz Collections Fellowship

The University of Idaho Library has awarded Mitch Gibbs, a senior majoring in music education from Snohomish, Washington, the Berry International Jazz Collections Fellowship. This student fellowship consists of a $4,000 stipend and an additional $500 in research funds. Read more

MOSCOW, Idaho — Oct. 18, 2019 — The University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival – Feb. 28-29, 2020 – will continue its legacy of honoring traditional jazz music while highlighting the top musicians of today’s jazz scene. The festival’s evening concerts will feature current jazz icons Joshua Redman and Vertical Voices, as well as all 16 members of the Lionel Hampton Big Band – the first time in more than 19 years that the entire band will be in attendance. At two University of Idaho Library's Special Collections and Archives workshops at 1:15 and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, during the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, attendees will view and discuss the documentary, "A Great Day In Harlem" in Room 102 of the Albertson Building. Archival materials from the International Jazz Collections (IJC) will also be on display during the workshops. Read more
