Textiles Base Camp 4
FCS Teacher Apparel and Textiles Professional Development Workshop
The University of Idaho’s Apparel, Textiles and Design program is once again offering our summer workshop series: Textiles Base Camp. The camp will be offered on June 16-18 and will be 100% virtual. All workshops and presentations will be conducted synchronously through Zoom, and we will send out kits containing workshop supplies in advance. Times are Pacific Time (U.S. & Canada).
- 9 a.m. to Noon PT
Zero Waste: A Fabric Jigsaw Puzzle — Sonya Meyer
Design and create a garment leaving no fabric waste on the cutting room floor. In the process learn fun ways to teach math and cultural dress to others.
- 1-4 p.m. PT
Digital Fashion Illustration — Lori Wahl
Designers create digital illustrations to community designs to product teams, buyers and patternmakers. Learn to create vector illustrations and croquis using free vector drawing tools.
- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT (hour break for lunch)
Flat Patternmaking Double Workshop — Chelsey Lewallen
Learn basic pattern drafting and manipulation in this two-part workshop. Use half-scale sloper patterns to create your own garment designs and learn to draft a basic sleeve. Content is subject to change based on availability of materials and resources.

Guest Speakers and Wrap Up
We are offering two credits of Professional Development. The two credits require participation in Textiles Base Camp 4 and outside readings and assignments. Register for Professional Development Credits.

- Cost is $80 per participant. We have room for 40 participants. Kits will be shipped out June 4.

Requirements to participate
- Access to a computer with a webcam and high-speed internet. Workshops/presentations will be delivered via Zoom. Digital Fashion Illustration will use a web-based vector illustration tool.
- Access to a functional sewing machine and know how to operate it.
