University of Idaho Media Library

Where Is It Located

uidahophoto.photoshelter.com

This is a public website and anyone can view the University of Communications and Marketing (UCM) Media Library. University employees have download access to the digital assets. There is no fee to download images for campus use, please see our image use policy below for details. All other users can make a download request through the media library or by sending and email to medialibrary@uidaho.edu.

Account Setup

Users will be asked to create a login when they first attempt to download a photo. When prompted, login in with your uidaho.edu email address and your AD credentials.

Users can also create a login by clicking on LOGIN in the upper right corner.

Finding Assets

Browse the media library

Photos in the PhotoShelter UCM Media Library have been placed in galleries that are sorted by category.

If not already in gallery view, click on galleries in the main menu.

Click on the collection folder icon you wish to view in the main window.

You can also navigate collections and galleries in the explorer view on the left. You may need to click on "show explorer" in the lower left of the browser window to view the explorer pane.

Keyword Search

A search can be initiated by clicking on "search' in the main menu bar or by entering a keyword in the keyboard text box and pressing "Enter" on the keyboard. Clicking search in the menu bar will open the advanced search options.

Entering a keyword on the main page and pressing Enter will initiate a search. The search results will be shown along with the advanced search options and link.

When initiating a search from within a collection or gallery, you can select to search either “all files” or search within the collection or gallery selected.

What Photo Size Is Best to Use

  • JPEG - Small – 600 px - Best for web, email, blogs, and social media.
  • JPEG - Medium – 1200 px - Best for web, email, blogs, and social media.
  • JPEG - Large- 2400 px - Best for print sizes less than 8x10 OK for web, email, blogs and social media.
  • JPEG - Large- 4800 px - Best for print sizes 8x10 or larger.
  • JPEG – Original Size or Original - Best for print such as kiosks, banners or other large-scale media.

Image and Video Use Policy

Photographs and Video assets created by the University of Idaho are for the editorial needs of the university and industry partners. News media may use any of the images and videos in the online photo library for news or editorial content, both print and electronic, related to the University of Idaho. University of Idaho colleges and departments, employees, students, and alumni may use any of the images and video assets in the library for noncommercial communication pieces about the University of Idaho. The images and videos are not available for use unrelated to University of Idaho. None of the images or videos may be modified, altered or used in any way that changes or misrepresents their content or overall brand context. All media assets are property of the University of Idaho. Media contributed by freelance photographers or videographers may require special permissions.
