Curriculum and Instruction All University of Idaho programs leading to recommendation for teacher certification/ endorsement meet Idaho state professional educator standards. Individuals seeking certification/endorsement with any other state are subject to the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement for Educator Licensure. This agreement makes completers of University of Idaho educator preparation programs eligible to transfer their Idaho teacher certification or institutional recommendation for certification to other participating states. Additional information can be found here. It is important to fully understand state requirements for certification. Candidates outside of Idaho cannot be guaranteed that completing this program will result in a licensure, salary, career advancement, or other state-specific requirements. Illinois and Washington accept University of Idaho recommendations for certification directly, so completers are eligible for a five-year renewable certification right away. Teacher Librarian Endorsement (K12) for Idaho Teachers This program is for Idaho certified teachers who are interested in school library and media positions and that have a secondary, standard elementary, exceptional child, standard occupational specialist or advanced occupational specialist teaching certificate. When the coursework, practicum, and the Praxis II Test 5311 are completed, and if the student is completing an endorsement for Idaho, he/she must contact the Certification Officer at Undergraduate Programs and Certification, College of Education, University of Idaho, 875 Perimeter Drive MS 3084, Moscow, ID 83844-3084 for institutional recommendation signature approval of completion of requirements for the Idaho State Department of Education. Students must earn a C or better in the courses pertaining to the Teacher Librarian K-12 endorsement to receive an endorsement recommendation by the Certification Officer. These courses may be approved for endorsements in other states. Teachers outside the state of Idaho should check with their state's Department of Education to determine requirements and to obtain written confirmation that ISI credits are acceptable for their state's endorsement.
