Water and the Environment
Certificate, undergraduate
Experience the science of water
You’ll explore the science of water in all its forms, from mountain streams to underground aquifers. You’ll discover how water sustains ecosystems, communities and life itself. At University of Idaho, you don’t just study the hydrologic cycle, you experience it in our experimental forest watersheds and through Idaho’s more arid landscapes. Our faculty lead groundbreaking research, and you’ll join them in classrooms, labs and the field to gain skills to set you apart.
This 12-credit certificate program lets you design your path. Dive into groundwater hydrology, surface-water systems and water quality, then tailor your studies with electives in climate change, limnology, chemical hydrogeology and more. Every course is built to give you the knowledge, data skills and field experience employers and grad schools are looking for.
When you finish, you’ll hold a credential that tells the world you’re an expert in water science and sustainability.
