The global citizenship undergraduate certificate equips students with the skills needed to navigate a diverse and interconnected world. Through multidisciplinary coursework, you will develop cultural awareness, effective communication and collaboration skills to work with colleagues, clients and communities from varied cultural, ethnic, political and linguistic backgrounds.
The program combines international studies, languages, history, political science and intercultural communication to provide students with both theoretical understanding and practical applications of global citizenship. By completing this certificate, students are prepared to enter a multicultural workforce and engage thoughtfully and effectively with global challenges.

Financial aid and scholarship opportunities
Financial aid
U of I’s certificate programs are not eligible for financial aid or scholarships on their own. However, students enrolled in a bachelor's or associate degree program may apply their financial aid and scholarships toward a certificate if they are pursuing both simultaneously.

Undergraduate certificate application process
Students interested in adding a certificate to their bachelor’s or associate degree program should speak with their academic advisor.
