Equity and justice

Certificate, undergraduate

A better future for all

The certificate in equity and justice will help you deepen your knowledge and skills in addressing today’s most pressing issues of equity, inclusion and social justice. This interdisciplinary program combines classroom-based coursework with applied workshops led by experienced practitioners. This model ensures you’ll engage with critical theories and concepts while you learn to put them into practice. It can be paired with any major or minor on campus or serve as a standalone degree.

This flexible 12-credit certificate can be individually tailored to align with your personal interests, professional goals and community needs. Through the certificate, you will develop structural understandings of inequality and inclusion that can strengthen your ability to work effectively in diverse contexts. Whether you are a student preparing for a career, a professional seeking to expand your expertise or a community member committed to making a difference, this program equips you with tools for thoughtful engagement with social structures, policies and practices.

As a graduate of the program, you will be prepared to engage more effectively in roles that require working with people whose experiences may differ from your own — an especially important skill for those in client-facing professions such as education, social services, health care, law and business. With scholarly grounding and practical application, the certificate in equity and justice provides a strong foundation for creating more equitable communities and organizations.
