U of I’s diversity and inclusion undergraduate certificate is designed for students, professionals and community members seeking to deepen their understanding of diversity and inclusion. This interdisciplinary program offers comprehensive, university-centered training through a mix of classroom learning, online courses, workshops, internships and service-learning opportunities.
The program requires 12 credits, split between academic coursework and practical application, allowing you to explore diversity issues in-depth while gaining hands-on experience. With a variety of courses, workshops and experiential learning options, this flexible program lets you tailor your education to align with your career goals and interests, all while gaining valuable skills applicable in any workplace or social setting.
Upon completion, you will receive a certificate that demonstrates your proficiency in understanding a wide range of diversity issues and your ability to apply that knowledge effectively in both professional and personal contexts.

Financial aid and scholarship opportunities
U of I’s certificate programs are not eligible for financial aid or scholarships on their own. However, students enrolled in a bachelor's or associate degree program may apply their financial aid and scholarships toward a certificate if they are pursuing both simultaneously.

Students interested in adding a certificate to their bachelor’s or associate degree program should speak with their academic advisor.
