The child feeding certificate is designed for professionals who want a well-rounded understanding of child development — from the prenatal period through age 12 — paired with essential knowledge in nutrition and feeding practices. Ideal for childcare providers, program administrators, therapists, nutritionists and others in related fields, the program emphasizes individualized developmental approaches and the importance of context in learning.
Participants will explore evidence-based strategies for managing meals, supporting developmentally appropriate feeding and promoting healthy eating behaviors during a critical window of growth. U of I’s certificate programs are not eligible for financial aid or scholarships on their own. However, students enrolled in a bachelor's or associate degree program may apply their financial aid and scholarships toward a certificate if they are pursuing both simultaneously.

Students interested in adding a certificate to their bachelor’s or associate degree program should speak with their academic advisor.
