Civil engineering

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

The annual Engineering Design EXPO is held on the Moscow campus April 24-25, 2025. EXPO is the longest-running student engineering and technological innovation showcase in the Pacific Northwest. The event welcomes K-12 and community college students, industry partners and community members to explore industry-sponsored\nprojects designed by current U of I students in the College of Engineering’s Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Program.

Designing sustainable infrastructure for society

Nearly everywhere you go, you will find or use something designed by a civil engineer. Bridges and roads, water and wastewater treatment facilities and dams, airports and other large infrastructure projects – the work of civil engineers plays an important role in how we live, work, travel and play.

In this program, you will learn how to design all types of civil engineering systems and processes. You will apply your engineering skills to develop sustainable solutions that help people and make life better for all — such as providing clean water to cities, protecting society from natural disasters, improving our infrastructure or designing transportation systems of the future.
