About the Department of Geography and Geological Sciences

Degrees that change the world

As a geology major you will study how the Earth and our solar system changes, evolves, and produces results that change the world! Whether you are interested in studying mid-ocean ridge dynamics at the bottom of the Atlantic, rain and snow chemistry at the top of the Rockies, ice sheet physics at the edges of Greenland, or weathering on the surface of Mars.

A geography degree prepares you to study the world's environmental issues, natural resources, populations, and political and economic systems using cutting-edge geographic methods and technologies.

Engage in active research and work closely with internationally recognized faculty as early as your freshman year. Be ready to take a different look at the world.
