A. The term "disability" refers to the condition of a person who (a) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (b) has a record of such impairment, or (c) is regarded as having such an impairment. [See also 3060 B]

B. The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 requires that procedures be established for ensuring access to programs, activities, and services of the university for persons with disabilities, and for responding to complaints by persons who believe they have been denied access to accommodation, or otherwise been discriminated against because of disability. [See also 3210 A-1, 2300 VII-1, 3700 D-2, and 3730 C-1-c, D-1-c.]

C. Employees who seek reasonable accommodation in employment due to disability should consult with Human Resources for information about university procedures for requesting employment accommodation.
